Welcome to U Link’s world-class light rail stations. From here you can ride congestion-free to downtown Seattle or all the way to Sea-Tac Airport. University of Washington Station

This underground station is located next to Husky Stadium and the platforms are big enough to handle game day crowds. Modern elevators and escalators connect the platforms to the nearby campus, UW Medical Center and surrounding neighborhoods. A new pedestrian bridge allows walkers and bikers to avoid traffic by connecting the station to upper campus and the Burke-Gilman Trail. From here, the ride to downtown is eight minutes and the airport 46.

Station facts

More than 50,000 cubic yards of concrete and more than 7,800 tons of reinforcing steel were used in the station.
The station platform holds up to 1,500 passengers.
Artist and UW alum Leo Saul Berk integrated nearly 9,000 square feet of custom-designed perforated metal panels into the station’s artwork.
Over 30,000 square feet of tile are used in the station.

Capitol Hill Station

This underground station is located on Broadway. Safe and speedy elevators and escalators connect the station platform to the street and the surrounding neighborhoods and business district, as well as Seattle Central College. The ride to downtown Seattle is four minutes, the airport 42. Also just a short walk away is the First Hill Streetcar.

Station facts

Nearly 2,900 tons of bricks, wood, metal and other building materials were recycled instead of landfilled in clearing the way for the station.
The deepest part of the U Link light rail tunnels is 300 feet under nearby Volunteer Park.
Artist Mike Ross transformed two U.S. Navy A4 Skyhawks into the Jet Kiss artwork located above the station platform.
At the station’s north entrance, Capitol Hill artist Ellen Forney created a bold red mural of two hands joined together with their pinkies crossed. At the west entry, look for a set of fingers that walk at the top of the stairwell.

How to Ride

Getting to the train

The best way to get there is to walk, bike or ride transit. There is no parking. Plan your trip to the University of Washington Station or Capitol Hill Station with our regional trip planner.

How to pay

Paying for your ride is easy with an ORCA card. Or, you can buy a ticket at the stations using a visa or mastercard. Payment is processed securely here. The cost is based on how far you go.

Using your ORCA card

You can use your ORCA card on transit systems throughout Central Puget Sound. The card automatically calculates your fares and transfers.

Stay safe

The U Link stations are well-lit and include security cameras throughout. The stations are patrolled by Sound Transit security and transit police.

Sound Transit’s regional trip planner lets you organize your trip. You can use it on your mobile or desktop.

Ride your bike

Trains are bike-friendly, but space is limited. Consider parking your bike at the station and walking on board.
